What should I bring/pack to be prepared? How can I maximize my RareWaters experience?

Make the most of your day on the water with these simple steps.

Check the Flows and Weather: Before you set off, take a look at the river flows and weather conditions. This will help you be well-prepared for a successful day out. We send all this information to you on your booking confirmation. Don't see your confirmation email, please check your spam/junk folder. Unfortunately, they end up there from time to time.

Visit a Local Fly Shop: As the river and its conditions are ever-changing, it is up to us to utilize the resources around us to find the best - real-time - reports and conditions. One of the best resources to use is the folks who spend time on the water every day - your local fly shop. At times, it can be tough walking in and asking questions but we wanted to keep you armed with the best possible approach that will lead to a successful trip.

Questions to ask your local fly shop:

  1. What bugs to use?
  2. What time of day does the fishing tend to turn on?
  3. Where are they feeding? In the skinny water? Still in deeper pocket water? Slower moving runs?
  4. Depth at which they are feeding?

Stay Hydrated: Our high altitude calls for staying hydrated. Don't forget to pack water to keep you feeling your best.

Navigate with Ease: Download those GPS points before you head out. It'll make navigation a breeze and help you find those perfect fishing spots. We send all the GPS points to you 1 week before you arrive in your map email. If you do not see your map, please check your junk/spam folder as they end up there from time to time.

Bug Defense: Bug spray is your friend! Make sure those pesky insects don't ruin your day on the water, especially in the spring and early summer.

Sun Protection: Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are essential. Stay protected while enjoying the great outdoors. This goes for all seasons.

Enhance Visibility: Polarized sunglasses and a hat will improve your visibility on the water, making spotting fish easier.

Handle Fish Gently: Bring a net to land fish gently without causing stress. It's all about the catch-and-release experience.

Pack Your Gear: Of course, your rod and reel are a must! We just want to give you a friendly nudge to remember them.

Celebrate the Day: Finally, when the day winds down, why not bring a cold beverage to toast a great fishing adventure?

We can't wait to hear all about your fishing escapade. Remember to share your stories and even a photo or two when you return!
