When is the water too warm for fishing?

Are you wondering what temperature is too hot for fish, and when you should probably call it a day? We got some answers for you.

High water temperatures can stress fish and affect their feeding behavior, so it’s good to be cautious. In general, many trout species (like brook, brown, and rainbow trout) begin to experience stress when water temperatures exceed 68°F (20°C). For some species, 70°F (21°C) or higher can be dangerous.

If the water temperature is approaching or above these levels, it’s best to avoid fishing to prevent further stress on the fish. If you feel that the water will be too warm to fish responsibly please contact us at support@rarewaters.com to reschedule your fishing date. With conservation in mind, we will deviate from our normal cancellation policy to be responsible stewards of our fisheries.
